Besant Nagar Beach (Edward Elliots Beach) is located in Besant Nagar , Chennai. It is one of the best picnic spot , attracted by both locals and tourists. There are a lot of eateries and other shops nearby. Comparing with the Marina Beach , Elliots Beach is clean and calm. It's worth the time to spend at this place to experience the gentle breeze and the billowing waves.

At one side of the beach there is a Annai Velankanni Church and Ashtalakshmi temple , which makes this locality a pilgrimage center. During the weekends , the beach and the nearby areas will be crowded. However , the visit to this place is really delightful.

When I was in Chennai , I used to visit this beach frequently as my friends stayed in Besant Nagar.  These snaps are captured before some showers. It was really a great time to capture the black clouds and the wide sea.  I didn't experiment any click during the rain since my DSLR was new at that time and I was afraid of its getting drenched.

Boat at Elliots Beach

This was my second visit to Elliots Beach. The sky was already cloudy , when we reached Besant Nagar bus stand. We had to walk for 10 minutes to reach the beach. After capturing some stills , it started to rain heavily. As we didn't have an umbrella , we ran away to get shelter under the roof an small hut. The climate was really awesome on that day. Once the rain got over , we dispersed.

How to Reach Elliots Beach
It's situated next to Elliot's promenade in Besant Nagar, reached via 4th Main Road or 7th Avenue. Direct buses are available to Besant Nagar from major locations like Vadapalani, Aynavaram and Guindy. If you are not able to catch direct bus , you can get down at Adyar to catch any bus going to Besant Nagar.
